Sporting Gijon coach Manuel Preciado is in defiant mood as he takes his side to former club Racing Santander. Reports in the Spanish media suggest Preciado is living on borrowed time following a dismal run of form that has left Sporting bottom of the standings and without a win in 12 league and cup matches.
Sporting have also only recorded two victories since March, butPreciado, who has been in charge at El Molinon since 2006, insists he will continue fighting and has rejected suggestions he had been given any ultimatum by his bosses. Racing, who Preciado coached on two separate occasions as well as leading their reserve side, are seven points better off than Sporting in 14th place following an improved recent run of form. The Cantabrians have not conceded in four of the last five games - including holding Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw atthe Vicente Calderon last weekend - and coach Miguel Angel Portugal said: "For a team like Racing, to defend well and keepa clean sheet is very important.".
